Sustainability
Cleaning that’s better for people and the planet
We know that the future of our business and our communities depends on reducing our environmental impact. That’s why we’re always looking for new ways to clean more sustainably, without compromising on quality or safety.
As part of the Bruntwood group, we’re committed to reaching net zero carbon by 2030. From the products we use to the energy that powers our workspaces, we’re focused on doing things better.
Chemical-free
We use technology that converts water into a cleaner and sanitiser, killing 99.999% of germs. It reverts to water and oxygen, reducing pollution, carbon emissions, plastic waste, and chemical exposure.
Innovative products
We use the Vireo 3 range across a number of our sites — a new generation of probiotic cleaning products that deliver longer-lasting results without the use of biocides, bleach or phosphates. They’re non-hazardous, safer for our teams to work with and better for the environment.
Energy supply
Unify is based in Bruntwood-owned space, where energy use is increasingly powered by renewables. Bruntwood has a major stake in Kirk Hill Wind Farm and since April 2024 all electricity used in our head office has come from renewable sources.
Waste management
We work with Bruntwood and our waste partners to make sure nothing goes to landfill, unless legally required. Instead, waste is processed through a Materials Recycling Facility: general waste is turned into energy, food waste goes to anaerobic digestion, and glass, paper, plastics and cans are recycled for reuse.
Green spaces
Through Bruntwood’s partnership with City of Trees, we’re contributing to the restoration of woodlands and the planting of three million trees across Greater Manchester. This partnership is just one way we’re helping make the places we work in more sustainable for future generations.
Sustainable travel
Our team benefits from Bruntwood’s cycle facilities and season ticket loans. Bruntwood is transitioning to electric and hybrid fleets.
A practical, long-term approach
Sustainability isn’t a one-off project. It’s something we embed into everyday decisions, from the way we clean to the products we buy and the partnerships we form.
We’re committed to improving our performance, supporting our customers’ goals, and creating healthier, more sustainable workplaces.
